Frequently asked questions
Why does the tracker count days outside Australia?
Citizenship by conferral generally limits time spent outside Australia in the four years before you apply, and in the 12 months before you apply. The tracker adds up your trips against those limits.
Do all days in Australia count towards citizenship?
Not in the same way. The general residence requirement counts time lived in Australia on a valid visa, and time as a permanent resident is treated separately. Check the Home Affairs citizenship rules for your visa history.
Can I rely on this tracker alone?
No. It helps you count your days, but the Department of Home Affairs decides eligibility. Keep your travel records and check the current rules before you apply.
